Etappe 9 Pau KM199-226

Das Frühstück war karg, etwas Reste von gestern (Baguette, Käse und Salami) und Kaffee schwarz. Aus Anoye hinaus und auf der Anhöhe war auch schon KM 201 erreicht. Wir haben herrliches Wetter und einen guten Fernblick. Heute sehe ich die die Pyrenäen noch öfters und irgendwie wird mir erst jetzt so richtig bewusst was für eine mächtige Bergkette das ist, vom Mittelmeer bis zum Atlantik. Irgendwo zwischen den schneebedeckten Gipfeln wird sich wohl ein Weg finden, der Somportpass. Um die Mittagszeit war dann Morlaàs erreicht. Wir wollte ich ursprünglich Station machen, doch leider wurde musste der Kollegen der hier wohnt,  kurzfristig zu einem wichtigem Projekt nach Toulouse. Als hab ich umgeplant und bin heute weiter nach Pau. Pau hat ein wunderschönes Zentrum, doch  bis man da ist muss man sich als Fussgänger durch den Verkehr kämpfen. Die Straße war sehr stark befahren und mit ohne Gehweg oder Seitenstreifen. Ich Deutschland wäre man hier mit einem Hupkonzert empfangen worden und ein Sprung in den Straßengraben wäre nötig geworden. Doch für die Leute hier dies ganz normal, die weichen dir großzügig aus und wenn das mal nicht geht wir einfach auch mal angehalten!

Breakfast was meager, some leftovers from yesterday (baguette, cheese and salami) and black coffee. Leaving Anoye and on the hill we had already reached KM 201. We had wonderful weather and a good view. Today I saw the Pyrenees more often and somehow I only now really realized what a mighty mountain range it is, from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. Somewhere between the snow-covered peaks there will probably be a way, the Somport Pass. Around lunchtime we reached Morlaàs. We had originally wanted to stop off, but unfortunately the colleague who lives here had to go to Toulouse on an important project at short notice. So I changed my plans and continued on to Pau today. Pau has a beautiful center, but as a pedestrian you have to fight your way through the traffic to get there. The road was very busy and had no sidewalk or shoulder. In Germany you would have been greeted with a concert of honking and a jump into the ditch would have been necessary. But for the people here this is quite normal, they generously give way to you and if that doesn't work they just stop.
